What We Do

The Official Alberta Campground Guide is the #1 resource for deciding where to camp in Alberta. The Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association has been publishing this guide since 1988.

It’s now available online!!

The Official Campground Guide is a popular resource for visitors from around Alberta, across Canada and worldwide!  You can view the printed guide with our Campground Guide Flipbook.

To assure campers' comfort and satisfaction, the Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association's experienced Quality Assurance Team inspects privately operated campgrounds.

Campgrounds that serve overnight or transient campers must meet the Minimum Standards for Approved Campgrounds.  These campgrounds are inspected and approved by the AHLA, and are listed on this website.  Federally and provincially operated campgrounds and recreational areas are verified directly by the government agencies responsible.

The AHLA recognizes four different types of campgrounds:

PRIMITIVE CAMPGROUND means a parcel of land developed for the random placement of recreational vehicles or tents and having the minimum amenities.

BASIC CAMPGROUND means a parcel of land developed into designated lots for camping and having the minimum amenities.

SEMI-SERVICED CAMPGROUND means a parcel of land developed for camping and having the minimum of 50% of the designated lots with at least partial services and campers having access to specific facilities.

SERVICED CAMPGROUND means a parcel of land developed for camping and having the minimum of 75% of the designated lots with at least partial services and campers having access to specific facilities.

You now have access to explore the over 550 annually inspected and Approved Campground locations throughout Alberta online!

Happy Camping!
