Elk River Campground is found in Elk River Provincial Recreation Area, 17 km southwest of Lodgepole on Hwy. 620 and 47 km west on Elk River Road. A small campground with large, well spaced sites nestled in a mixed forest. Some sites have a view of the river. Elkwood Campground is in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, 50 km south of Hwy. 1 on Hwy. 40 and south on Kananaskis Lakes Trail. Emerson Lakes Campground is found in Sundance Provincial Park, 56 km northeast of Hinton on Emerson Creek Road. The park is off the beaten path, but once you find it, you`ll be rewarded with a chain of 5 small lakes and about 7 km of trails to explore. You can fish, canoe, or take an electric powered boat on the lakes and view the hoodoos on the Wild Sculpture Trail. .<br>There is a reservation fee of $6/night. Located on the Southwest side of the Hamlet of Enchant on highway 526, Enchant Municipal Park offers 102 sites, 15 and 30 amp. Individual sites are first-come, first-served. Group Sites, Family Reunion Centre and Camp Kitchens are by reservation only. Ethel Lake M.D. Park has 11 non-power sites, firepits, dry firewood for sale, non-potable water, horseshoe pits, playground, swimming area, camp kitchen, fish cleaning stand, boat launch, and dock. Etherington Creek Campground is found in Etherington Creek Provincial Recreation Area, 45 km southwest of Longview on Hwy. 541 and 7 km south on Forestry Trunk Road. There are over 60 sites here, most of which are suitable for both RVs and tents. Several of them are walk-in tent sites. Sites are spacious and surrounded by trees. This campground is located in Fairfax Lake Provincial Recreation Area, 50 km southeast of Robb on Hwy. 40. It has 27 spacious and private sites near the shores of Fairfax Lake. Fallen Timber North Campground is found in Fallen Timber Provincial Recreation Area, 25 km northwest of Sundre off Hwy. 22. There are more than 30 sites, including a few by the riverside. Located in scenic foothills, it is a good base camp for nearby canoeing, fishing or OHV riding. Fallen Timber South Campground is located in Fallen Timber South Provincial Recreation Area, 13 km west of Cochrane on Hwy. 1A and 52 km north on Hwy. 40. A good base camp in the foothills for nearby hiking and OHV trails. Registered campers may off-load OHVs and travel to trails from their campsites.<br>Opening date subject to snow levels. Camping season may extend into November, weather permitting. Snowmobile staging free of charge.Water is available from a hand pump at this site.
