Thompson Creek Campground, Thompson Creek Provincial Recreation Area

Thompson Creek Campground is found in Thompson Creek Provincial Recreation Area, 83 km southwest of Nordegg on Hwy. 11. This picturesque recreation area is on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. There are over 50 well-treed sites, suitable for RVs and tents. A trail leads to scenic views of the river valley.<br>First wheelbarrow of firewood included in overnight camping fee; additional loads $8.00 each.Recent changes to the recreation area regulation under the Public Health Act have affected provision of drinking water in this provincial campground –









Three Isle Lake Backcountry Camping, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park
Canmore
Three Isle Backcountry Campground is in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, 50 km south of Hwy. 1 on Hwy. 40 and south on Kananaskis Lakes Trail. The closest access is at North Interlakes Day Use. It is 10.3 km from the trailhead via Upper Kananaskis Lake Circuit/Three Isle Lake Trail. Tent sites are scattered amongst the trees above the lake. Enjoy beautiful lake and mountain views at this scenic site. No fires permitted. There are pit/vault toilets and secure food storage lockers here.

<br>Capacity is based on 20-foot units (including tow vehicle). Firewood is sold on-site from mid May to Labour Day. Pending weather, normal water service is available by the May long weekend. To support water conservation and as a backup measure, campers are encouraged to bring a supply of drinking water. Shower facilities are available in Castleview Campground, which is located on the north side of the river. You are expected to bring your own water. Three Sisters Campground is found in Bow Valley Provincial Park, 12 km east of Canmore on Hwy. 1. There are 36 well-treed sites suited to both RVs and tents. The campground is beside the Bow River and has a hand launch for small non-motorized boats. There are many activities available in the surrounding area, including hiking and biking trails, fishing and paddling.<br>Three Sisters campground is located in Dead Man`s Flats (just outside Canmore on Hwy. 1). Boat launch is for non-motorized public vessels only; commercial operators require a permit to launch or take out any non-motorized vessel

Thunder Lake Campground is found in Thunder Lake Provincial Park, 21 km west of Barrhead on Hwy. 18. This large campground has over 125 sites, both unserviced and powered. They are well-treed and suited to RVs and tents. There are many amenities and activities here, including showers, a beach, playground, boat launch, and trails.<br>Convenience store open 7 days/week from May 1 until Oct weather permitted, water may be shut off after 15th September.

This prairie oasis is in Tillebrook Provincial Park, 6 km east of Brooks on Hwy. 1. There are RV and tent-friendly sites, with unserviced, powered and pull-through options. Trees and shrubs provide shade and shelter. See amazing prairie sunrises and sunsets and endless skies. Explore the grassland on a short interpretive trail, or take a day trip to Dinosaur Provincial Park.<br>Summer rates are in effect until the beginning of October. Tolman East Campground, Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park

Tolman East Campground is deep in the Red Deer River Valley beneath the shade of the cottonwood trees. Sites are suitable for tents and RVs and most are sheltered by trees and shrubs. Paddle through the badlands or visit the day use area to the north. Take a drive to the scenic viewpoint just northeast of Huxley for an unbelievable view of the valley.<br>Vehicle access into the park is not provided from mid-October to mid-May. Touchwood Lake Campground is located in Lakeland Provincial Recreation Area, 14 km north on Hwy. 881, 1 km east on Township Rd. 672, and 30km north on access road. Touchwood is a favourite destination for local anglers, and families looking to enjoy the clear water of the lake. This campground is located in Trapper Lea`s Cabin Provincial Recreation Area, 30 km south of Swan Hills on Hwy. 33. There are about 20 sites are suitable for both RVs and tents. There are OHV trails nearby, which registered campers can access from their campsites.<br>You are expected to bring your own water. Government of Alberta regulations require that water from pumps like the one located at this campground NOT be used for drinking, cooking or washing (including brushing teeth and washing dishes). Water from the pump onsite can only be used for purposes like putting out your campfire.

Turbine Canyon Backcountry Campground is in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, 50 km south of Hwy. 1 on Hwy. 40 and south on Kananaskis Lakes Trail. The closest access is at North Interlakes Day Use. It is 15.1 km from the trailhead via Upper Kananaskis Lake Circuit/Three Isle Lake/Maude-Lawson Trail. Enjoy beautiful mountian views, streams and meadows on the way to this scenic spot. Tent sites are nestled in the forest beside Maude Creek. No fires permitted. There are pit/vault toilets and secure food storage lockers here.
